Predavanje Prof Catrien Bijleveld
U srijedu, 28.10.2015., u terminu 10:00-12:00, predavanje na temu "Research Methodology for International Crimes" ce odrzati Prof Catrien Bijleveld, profesorica Metodologije kriminoloskih istrazivanja na Pravnom fakultetu Univerziteta u Amsterdamu i direktorica Holandskog instituta za izucavanje kriminaliteta i provedbe zakona (Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR)).
Research methodologist and lawyer Bijleveld is currently attached to NSCR as a senior researcher and leads one of the institute's research programmes. In addition to this, she is Professor of Research Methods in Criminology at VU University Amsterdam and in the summer of 2014 she will also assume an adjunct professorship at Griffith University Key Centre for Research. She will start in her new position as director of NSCR on 15 August 2014.
The NSCR is a national research institute that focuses on fundamental interdisciplinary scientific research at the crossroads of theory, practice and policy of criminality and law enforcement. It is housed at and is partially funded by VU University Amsterdam. The research themes include the life course of criminals, the citizen and the penal system, and the spread of criminality.
Professor Bijleveld succeeds professor Gerben Bruinsma who has led NSCR since 1999. He is now retiring as the director but he will remain attached to NSCR as a senior researcher.
Professor Bijleveld foresees two major challenges for the coming years: increasing the visibility of the scientifically highly successful NSCR and its employees in the public debate and seeking connections with European initiatives. ‘In addition‘, she has announced that, ‘seeking active connections between NSCR and other parties, both nationally and internationally, to increase the financial support base for NSCR is a top priority’.
Catrien Bijleveld (1958) studied psychology at Leiden University and gained her PhD there as well. At Leiden she also obtained a second degree, a masters in law. She has worked in the Netherlands and abroad as a researcher and as a professional consultant at universities and at knowledge institutions such as WODC and TNO. Professor Bijleveld has supervised various PhD students, has a considerable international network across scientific disciplines and since 2012 has been a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
